Baby organizer basket with patchwork teddy bears
This basket is absolutely adorable! Besides being functional, it’s decorative and perfect as a gift.
Materials Needed
• Cotton fabrics (2 to 3 matching prints: polka dots, floral, soft tones)
• Lining fabric
• Structured acrylic batting (R1, R2 or thick felt)
• Interfacing (optional)
• Silicone fiber (for the teddy bears and handle)
• Sewing thread
• Sewing machine
• Scissors or rotary cutter
• Ruler
• Iron
• Pins or clips
• Buttons or beads (eyes — optional)
• Decorative ribbon or bow

Suggested Measurements:
• Base: 18 cm in diameter (round)
• Side height: 16 to 18 cm
• Handle: 40 cm in length
1. Cutting the Pieces
Basket body:
• 1 circle (outer base)
• 1 side strip (long enough to go around the circle)
• Repeat for the lining
• Cut the acrylic batting to the same size Measurements
2. Basket Structure
1. Attach the acrylic batting to the outer fabric (you can quilt it or simply attach it).
2. Sew the side to form a cylinder.
3. Sew the round base to the cylinder. Sew slowly to ensure the shape fits well.
3. Assembling the Lining
• Repeat the same process with the inner fabric.
• Set aside.
4. Making the Teddy Bears (Highlight of the Piece)
Cut:
• 2 pieces for the face
• 2 pieces for the ears
Step-by-step:
1. Sew the face pieces together (leave an opening).
2. Fill with silicone fiber.
3. Close with an invisible stitch.
4. Make the nose (fabric or embroidery).
5. Apply the eyes (embroidery or snap buttons).
Safety: avoid small pieces if it’s for a baby!
5. Placing the teddy bears
• Position the teddy bears on the outside. From the basket
• Sew by hand or machine
• Add bows for finishing
6. Braided Handle (Special Feature)
1. Cut 2 or 3 strips of fabric
2. Sew them together to form tubes
3. Turn inside out and fill with fiberfill
4. Braid the strips
5. Attach to the sides of the basket

7. Final Joining
1. Place the lining inside the outer piece (right sides together)
2. Sew the top edge
3. Turn the piece right side out
4. Close the opening in the lining
5. Make a finishing stitch along the edge

• Adjust the shape well
• Iron lightly (without crushing the teddy bears)
• Finish with decorative details
Important Tips
• Use neutral and delicate tones (beige, pink, light brown)
• Mix soft prints for a harmonious look
• Use plenty of stuffing to give structure to the Piece
• If you want more firmness, use R2 acrylic batting
